The article presents an assessment of the manufacturing technology and structural parameters of multilayer acoustic
wooden flooring. The study combined a review of wooden flooring production processes, a weighted-sum multicriteria
comparison of eight technological alternatives, comparative numerical modelling of seven oak top-layer and birchplywood substrate combinations, and an evaluation of acoustic-layer application methods and manufacturing risks. The
alternatives were assessed according to production efficiency, structural quality, cost, sustainability and acoustic potential.
Engineered multilayer flooring achieved the highest aggregate score (W = 3.81) and was selected as the most suitable
base technology for an integrated acoustic layer. Numerical models of 100 × 100 mm two-layer elements were analysed
over the 100–5000 Hz range under identical modelling conditions. The maximum displacement decreased from 43.9 ×
10⁻¹¹ m for the 4–6 mm configuration to 3.4 × 10⁻¹¹ m for the 6–15 mm configuration. Increasing plywood thickness
reduced maximum displacement by approximately 37–68%, whereas increasing the oak top-layer thickness reduced it by
approximately 19–27%. The 4–12, 4–15 and 6–15 mm combinations showed the lowest displacement values and the most
stable response over the analysed frequency range. Roller application was identified as the preferred method for serial
production because of its layer-thickness control and repeatability, while manual application is more appropriate for
formulation development and prototyping. The absolute displacement used in the study is a preliminary indicator of
structural vibrational sensitivity and cannot be interpreted as a direct measure of impact sound insulation. Therefore, the
selected configurations should be validated by laboratory tests according to EN ISO 717-2, together with adhesion,
bending, dimensional stability and durability testing.
