The concept of a product defect, its causes and theoretical aspects of management

Abstract

The concept of product defect and its synonyms used in the scientific literature are analyzed in the article. The types and causes of product defects are systematised on the basis of relevant regulatory documents, such as the Blue Guide to the Implementation of EU Product Rules and the World Health Organization Guide, as well as other legislation. The production defect (non-conformity) management system is implemented which helps the production company to solve the problems related to the production defect. The 8D problem-solving team approach is proposed to be applied not only to the management of discrepancies identified by external customers of a manufacturing company, but also by internal users.
